STEUBEVNILLE, OH – At a meeting of the Jefferson County Democratic Party Central and Executive Committees on Tuesday evening, Frankie DiCarlantonio was unanimously elected the new Chairman.

“I am excited to be able to lead the Democratic party in Jefferson County,” commented DiCarlantonio.

DiCarlantonio takes the position as Chairman after the death of longtime party Chairman and the Village of Stratton Mayor, John Abdalla, in late July. “I definitely have big shoes to fill succeeding a man like John Abdalla,” commented DiCarlantonio, “but I feel that I have the energy, aggressiveness, and the knowledge to lead our party back to where it should be.”

In 2017, DiCarlantonio made a public appearance in the Jefferson County political world, running for Mayor of the City of Steubenville. “Although the outcome of the election was one that we did not want, my campaign was run aggressively, always positive, and in modern ways. I believe that I showed a preview of what we can expect from the new Jefferson County Democratic Party during my campaign for Mayor,” said DiCarlantonio. Before his appearance on the ticket, DiCarlantonio had worked with campaigns behind the scenes in Jefferson County.

After his election, DiCarlantonio promised party members that an overhaul of the party will be done within the next six months to get the organization ready for the heated 2018 elections to which Ohio voters will go to the polls for many statewide and a few local offices.
